So I'm thinking about purchasing this Mammut rope from a craigslist add but I'm not positive what type of Rope it is. From the photo I can see it's a 60M (1) EN892 Rope but I'm not sure of anything else. Any help is appreciated

She's lookin a little old and used... wouldn't you feel safer on a rope that you know it's history?

If that is old and used I should have retired my Infinity after 1 week...

What I'm saying is: You like to know where your girl has been before you go climbing on her... shouldn't you feel the same way about a rope?

I went to check it out. The guy bought it and climbed on it twice before breaking his femur in a car accident. So now he has to sell it to get some funds for the medical expenses. It really doesn't look like he has used it at all, other than the fact that its a tad bit dirty

Do you know the full history of every rope you have ever climbed on?

I've known the history of every rope I've purchased.

Just like any guy I've dated. (one-nighters don't count since you protect the shit out of it)

pfft, the use of the word "guys" in your description pretty much guarantees all you are getting is lies. Laugh No "guy" fesses up the truth. Hopefully the dude does better with the rope than you do with the "guys" off Craigslist. LOL.

BACK ON TRACK CLIMBER TED:

Rope bag -Check. indicates lower likelihood of battery contamination

Bullshit story - check.

Substantial savings? .....Uhh, hey Ted, how much money are you saving on this VS the Karessa $84 10mm rope (INC SHIPPING) you can get brand new? (See the deals thread in Gear. IE, what is your landed cost to you home after freight? (if any) That's the nut of the question there.

Manufacturers incorporates a strand of fabric into the core of the rope to ease age identification. Sometimes the strand may have text on it like this:

Maybe you can determine the age of the rope this way?

This way, when the climber breaks the rope and falls to his death, we'll know how old the rope was! :D

Well tell him to handle it the standard American way. That is, just dont pay. Apparently something like 50% of ER visits go unpaid for in America anyway. But, when a broken leg costs $40,000 and legitimately good health insurance runs $500 a month to start, I dont blame Americans for refusing to pay for the care they received, I wouldent pay either. The healthcare system in America is so disgraceful it's laughable.
