I have been climbing for a few weeks now and I am completely hooked. Most of the climbing I will be doing is indoors and thought I'd ask you guys what are the best shoes to get?

I have looked at:

La Sportive Futura -http://escpd.com/10e-futura/

Mad Rock Demon - http://www.madrockclimbing.com/...uct.asp?_item=100090

Any help would be great as I said I am a complete beginner.

Get whichever are cheapest, as you'll trash your first pair of shoes with your dodgy footwork.

Once you have some more technique, spend more $$ on a better shoe.

But if its out of these two, La Sport >> Mad Rock, every day of the week.

Thanks for the quick reply, in that case maybe it's worth going cheaper for my first pair.

Is La Sportiva the best brand to go with overall?

Madrock is okay but I would go with la sportiva between the two. As posted above I would not drop the cash on a high end shoe right off the bat as you will likely destroy them quickly. Check out the dirtbag deals section on http://mountainproject.com/DirtbagDeals and find something on sale from la sportiva, 5.10, or maybe Evolv.

some suggestions:

I would jump on this one

http://gearx.com/...?avad=36495_a32e6537

Out of everything i've seen if I where you I would go with the pontas, good shoe and can't beat the 60% off

I agree with the group. Go with something that's a little cheaper. I personally like the Sportiva Nago as a good first shoe.

As a beginner, the Futura is going to feel weird and totally not what you want. Like others have said, get something inexpensive.

I don't think this is really important for you, but for my bouldering shoes, especially if you think you'll boulder outside, I like to have a padded heel. That extra cushion helps keep from bruising your heels if you miss the pad. I'm not sure who makes shoes with padding in the heels right now, but if you can find some that fit, I think they're worth it.
