Thoughts on a rack.

So I have 2 sets of nuts, hexes, some tricams, plenty of slings and biners, webbing, rope and most else i need to go do some trad climbing.

I'm starting to look at investing some cash as things go on sale to build up a nice rack of cams for next season.

I was thinking it would look something like this:

C4s 0.5 - 3(or 4)
Mastercams 0 - 3
Helium Friends .5 - 3.5

willing to spend ~1000$ on cams

any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks.

If you're prepared to spend that much be sure and shop around for the best deal you can get, that way you'll have some simoleans left over for a road trip, or at least a good supply of beer.

You already have 3+ sets of passive gear, and you're looking at TWO sets of cams? I'd say learn to place the nuts, hexes, and tricams REALLY well. Then buy Powercams 0-3 and C4s .5 - 3. No need to double up on cams (yet).

I have almost this exact rack. C4s .05-4 and Mastercams 00-3 in doubles. With a set of wallnuts and hexes. You have to make the choice between .4 C4s or the #3 Mastercam so the cams over lap.

hey - i have full set of master cams up to six and bd up to size three - bd are very smooth and look cool - master cams are much better but the range is not as big - if you have wild country nuts up to size 14 and hexes id go with master cams - holding power is much better id say - they just look much beefier - i reckon a size 6 master cam is same as number to bd - actually forgot i have a bd number three but never need it -

i think if your starting out go with master cams as inevitably will be a better placement if you place it right in the 1st place from a holding power point of view - to get big metelious cams you need to get the super cams i think -

few friends swear by dragon cams by dmm - very smooth and light looking and on the plus side there is the extendable sling - dont know where your based but if in the us they have good deals on gearexpress.com -

if your europe based bananafingers are pretty good -

also if your europe based there is deals on wild country micro cams on joe browns website -

or if you go for balck diamond there is a saving to be made up to size one on planet fear website -

anyways what ever you buy will be good as all cams are cool :)
