NAACP Endorses Romney
In reply to: This afternoon, just days after its members booed him as he addressed their convention, the NAACP announced their endorsement of Mitt Romney for president. After receiving the news Mr. Romney returned to the convention where hundreds of jubilant African Americans welcomed him with chants of Mitt! Mitt! Mitt! Mitt! The presumptive Republican nominee appeared visibly moved by the reception as he took to the stage in front America’s oldest civil rights organization. Romney spent several minutes attempting to quiet the crowd before jokingly throwing up his hands in defeat, which drew deafening cheers from the euphoric group.
This is unprecedented!

I think there's a big fuckin' difference between judging people's decisions (e.g. religion, political affiliation, occupation) and judging people for how they were born. I'll be the first to admit that my racist tendencies are very troubling to me, doubly so because they arise out of irrational fear.
However, I'm not going to apologize for calling a group stupid if the defining beliefs of that group are demonstrably wrong. That's not bigotry.
The problem with the joke is that it takes a "some of my best friends are..." approach to racism. All that clause ever says is "some of my best friends tolerate my bullshit so...". Yes, the democratic party may be acting disingenuously if the end goal of affirmative action is to curry favor with minorities. However, its actually stupid of the republican party to say "well, we made institutional racism illegal, therefore it doesn't happen anymore, and we don't need a legal structure to address it if it occurs". It is demonstrably false, and we're giving conservatives the benefit of the doubt when we call them racist. The alternative is that they really are that stupid.

i call groups out because of their stupidity or the ridiculousness of their position. if you have problems with obama and his politics fine, but the osama comments just line up quite nicely with the ignorant tea party statments
