Hi all, read a few threads trying to find some info and thanks for everyone posting info. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

I will be In Bloomington for work for a year and a bit, and will be seriously missing my climbing in Cape Town, South Africa. First thing for me is to get with someone who can help me find my feet that side wrt climbing and gear and outdoor shops. I am not flying my kit out there so kitting up is step one, getting it dirty and used is step 2. I lead sport up to about the 5.10's. Obviously that is SA rock, who knows what your rock is like :P

Anyone in the area that can perhaps help me with some tips and direction when I eventually get there and perhaps join me for a trip to <list the places close here>, please get in contact. PM me and we can exchange mailing addresses.

35, gay white. Not opening a whole gay debate pls, would just also be nice to meet some other gay climbers, but couldn't give a rats arse if ur gay bi str8 pink or purple, as long as ur funny and you drink. Hahaha

I am new to climbing and I can tell you that upper limits is a great place to start.
I have just started climbing but Southern Illinois looks like it has some potential.

Hey, Im not gay but Im a climber, and over 35. And constantly looking for a climbing partner (I said climbing). Im in Wisconsin, and climb fairly regularly w the Chicago Mt. Club that gets to Devil's Lake in the center of Wisconsin. And I get to the Tetons almost every summer, and now that Im retired and have $ to travel, Im ready to go. Id love to spend a few weeks in Potrero Chico, out of Monterrey, MX, at the end of Feb, 2013. Can you do it? Several multipitch classics Id love to do. You could lead the 5.10 pitches, I could lead 5.8 and below. Get back. Bill

I Live in bloomington also, I can attest to the fact that Upper Limits is a killer gym, there's a phone number list on the bulletin board as well as tags you can attach to your harness if you're in search of a climbing partner. typically i'm there with a friend but if we have a group of three we're always willing to pick up a stray. personally straight, but the Bistro down town bloomington is a pretty pleasant bar you may find a few friends at ;)
