No one, NO ONE, will want to carry one of those things while climbing.

If it was 12" you might sell a few.

Good luck.

I wouldn't carry one climbing, but it might be pretty awesome to visit some popular routes where cams are frequently lost deep into cracks (Epinephrine maybe?) and use one to booty some lost cams.

Maybe a new product, but hardly a new idea. Someone was making something similar 20 years ago, called a Friend of a Friend. It didn't catch on then, either, and that one was only about 8" long. The only people who bought them were the ones that couldn't figure out how to knit together a couple of wire stoppers and hook the loops over the trigger.....

Actually you only need the shorter version. You can then use it for deep reaches by looping wired stoppers over the retractor triggers...

Oh wait.

Those should link together, right? Buy three and hold one in the other in the other! Buy more! The possibilities are infinite!

clearly the "paradime" vs paradigm aspect of that was missed. So much for internet jokes...

How regularly times are people losing cams in cracks? Crazy I can't say it has ever happened to me but if it is happening regularly to some people please let me know where, I could do with a few more cams! Cool

My experience is that the overwhelming majority of stuck cams are from overcamming, and that being beyond easy reach sometimes complicates the problem. The Extractor may be of minor benefit but does not directly address the prime problem.

On a side note; there have been a few occasions when I wanted to place a cam that was far out of reach while I was standing on the ground. Kind of like stick clipping a bolt. I presume the Extractor could be modified with an extension for that function. Considering how often I would need the gadget I doubt that I would buy one, but it is a nice project for gear heads.
