THere's the number-substitution ones, like this one, and also the scrambled ones. Also backwards and upsidedown and mirrored and shit. But does anybody actually have trouble reading them? I always figured they're just to make you feel special but actually everyone gets it. it would be a lot cooler if it had a more interesting message. Yes, to both of you. Dribble, I also often wondered whether there truly are people who can't read this sort of drivel. I do remember reading some research saying that as long as the longer words had the same first and last letter, people have no trouble with reading a scrambled message like that. Not sure about number substitutions, but really, seems pretty easy.

(like, writing something for someone across a table and writing it so that they can read it.) I can't do math in my head though. Like, at all. If I try to, I have to picture a piece of paper and "physically" pin the numbers down to it. But that's another one of those things where you're like, "does everybody do that?" and there's no way to know, because nobody talks about the way they conceive of letters and numbers.

Was a really good trip. dribble clymes? apparently, yesh. 5.11 trad, even. 5.10 with 40 foot runouts! (was snadbagged by camhat on my first route in 2 months. "lead the warmup" he says, "its awesome" he says.) If that runout was 40 feet, then my ____ is 16 inches. I would be careful with statements like that, if I were you. If the thing falls off, as a result of stretching... just saying! In other news, I have determined that I am imminently susceptible to mental suggestion. I got on Crown of Thorns, even though I was intimidated as heck by camhead's opinion that I would totally hate the route. Just as I was getting to the giant hueco and what looked like the reachy crux of the route, Shaun casually mentioned that his friend Ben, he of the 5.14 FA fame, took a long time to figure out that move out of the hueco, and was really mad at the beanpoles. Next word out of my mouth, as I fail to reach the lip of the hueco? Of course, "TAKE"! But that move wasn't even the hardest one on the route!!!! Definitely not the reachiest!!!! And it took me about 30 sec to figure it out, once I got really mad. Sigh... I really wish BANZ was there, instead of Shaun. He knows just the right mix of mocking and encouragement to get me to believe in myself. Still, wouldn't want to hang the draws on that one! But I did hang my own draws on BEHJ. Aw, you shouldn't have listened to Shaun. I would have just told you that a short person would have an easier time getting a high left heel on that move out of the Hueco. What was the reachiest move? That one out of the cool undercling pocket at the base of the top headwall? Heel, what heel? No, I didn't use the heel, it was too far. And I didn't rock over on the high left foot and go up with the left hand from the rail coming out of the hueco. I pushed with left toe and went up with the right hand first, then got the left hand crimp, turned it into a fingerlock, and went with right to the jug. The cool undercling pocket on the headwall was not reachy, either. The reachiest move was above the last bolt, before reaching the anchor-clipping jug. I had to use an unchalked intermediate crimp. camhead wrote: And funny story about "hanging your own draws..." I did find it interesting that reading the first couple of lines was a bit hard and then it became easy. Looking at it again the whole thing reads easier than the first time through. It's like learning to read someone's messy hand writing.

Good times at Da Gunks. Great conditions today but supposed to rain tomorrow. Donny bailed on us to go sweat on some chix on the tango floor. Did the Dangler and Star action today, and a couple easier things too. Oh yeah, did MF. Pretty impressed, this place is way good. Grades seem pretty normal so far.

Did the Dangler and Star action today, and a couple easier things too. Oh yeah, did MF. Pretty impressed, this place is way good. Grades seem pretty normal so far. HOw teh fuque did you wind up at dah gunks? A bunch of wack photos of ewe have come up on teh sfacespace, but none indicating and East Coast excursion. The Gunks are pretty rad, though. Some of the best trad cragging evar. MF is the quintessential 9+. I can't beleive you just upgradded MF. Next you'll be calling CCK 5.8 and High E 5.7 (which would both be at least 5.10 anywhere else....). Wait, I thought MF was 9+? Felt hard for me, but I may have been weke. Though, Dribble did take a phone call while leading it, so it can't be that hard.

[image]http://sphotos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/577170_290341254388899_780157616_n.jpg[/image] i have always wondered if anyone actually has trouble with those scrambled word things. Not sure about number substitutions, but really, seems pretty easy. and that one is made easier by the typeface. the mirrored, upside-down, and backwards ones I wonder more about, because people do seem to be occasionally surprised when I write more-or-less fluently upsidedown. (like, writing something for someone across a table and writing it so that they can read it.) I can't do math in my head though. Like, at all. If I try to, I have to picture a piece of paper and "physically" pin the numbers down to it. But that's another one of those things where you're like, "does everybody do that?" and there's no way to know, because nobody talks about the way they conceive of letters and numbers. hmm, not sure how well I write upside down -- but can read upside-down pretty easily (often do that at work). I have weird visualizations for doing math in my head (and for spelling), but I wouldn't say it involves picturing a piece of paper. Not only can I write upside-down, and backwards, I can do it with both hands at once. I actually learned to crochet when I was 6yo by taking a book with crocheting instructions and putting it in front of the mirror, so I could do it left-handed, instead of right-handed. I was kind of surprised when people made a big deal out of it. I was like, hmm, what's so special about it? I can still read the text, and the pictures look better that way. And my math visualizations... you don't want to know!

She obviously did not fully get the gist of the entendre, because she simply said, with a disgusted look on her face, "Whatever you guys! I'll just hang my own draws!" To which we laughed even more. Gud thymes. I assume N. and B. are the two I met at teh BROnaugh wall? Durp. did she zend Belly of teh Beast, then? no draw hanging required on that won. No, she is taking a break from that one, bc she was getting too frustrated. I guess she needed to mix things up with some draw hanging.

I'll have to ask her how it went tonight at teh gym.
