I have to admit I could have forecasted this. Not the rain, but the eventuality of the climbing trip not panning out.

I wish I could sympathize with you Don. But I checked the forecast last week, earlier this week, and a few days ago. No climbing here. I was thinking of bombing east a state or so to get away from the storms, but instead am sticking around the area dealing with the rain.

Climbing was good today??

I climbed the NC slabs last weekend for my first dose of real climbing in 6+ weeks. Elbow felt good but flaking the rope hurt a bit. Rehab is gonna be sllloooooooooooww...

So Sunny was sitting at a bar one day when a few fella came in and sat down next to him. The new fella noticed that Sunny was having a hard go of it and seemed to be muttering to himself over his drink.

New Guy (NG): Hey there, what's bothering you old chap?

Sunny: I'm a mason. I build things with rocks.

NG (shaking his head): I don't understand. I know what a mason is.

Sunny (pointing outside): That there little shop of flowers over there, the base of that building, you see it?

NG: Yeah, sure.

Sunny: I built that with me own two hands. Took me about three months to build that. After that they called me Sunny The Foundation Builder.

NG: Well it certainly looks solid. I would agree with them.

Sunny (a bit annoyed): Oh yeah, right. See that post office over there, that small one? You see it? It's made of stone. I built that with me own two hands, as well, stone by stone for six months.

NG: Nice looking building. Well done.

Sunny: They called me Sunny the Builder after that. I was moving up in the world.

NG: I can see why. It's an impressive feat.

Sunny (not satisfied): And that loooong fence next ta the post office, you see that?

NG: The stone one?

Sunny: Aye, that one. I built that with me own two hands as well. And not only that, but I walked the land in search for every single stone. Always looking for the perfect stone to put in the perfect place. That there fence is a mile long. It took me over a year to build that, and you'd think they'd call me Sunny the Mason after that wouldn't you?

NG: Of course. That's the most impressive thing you've show me.

Sunny (turning back to his drink): But you fuck one goat...

Do it now, while you're young, because when you get old and in the way (like, 47 for example) then a measly 3 pitches and repeated hucking off your oh-so-close 5.8 proj can lead to subsequent day sleeping in late, sore fingers, legs, and neck, and general lack of focus in the real world (or so I am told.)
