I am flying in to Las Vegas on Nov 24 and staying for a few weeks. And driving back up to Vancouver.

I am looking for climbing partners around Vegas.

Also, what guide book is best for the Red Rocks?

Any beta on where to camp for cheap or preferably free.

Bret

Hi ,

Am scheduled to be there but a little earlier and have already two partners.
Best book: Jerry handren RR guidebook. Detailed, serious, informative, reliable and has beautiful photos.
Cheapest place to stay: RR campground. It is quite near from the climbing sites but windy, in the desert and does not have any showers. I am not sure either about running water. You could also get rather cheap accommodation on the strip if you look at trip packages.
At the end of Nov, it might be windy (take a shell) and days are short (start early and bring a head-lamp).
Enjoy your stay ! It is a great place . Yves

Is the RR campground have a good climbing culture? Like can you rock up and be able to find climbing partners? Or is there a hang out anywhere in las vegas?

Not sure. Honestly, I have never stayed there and it does not look like some other places (Yosemite , Gunks, etc...) where you can gather and find other climbers .. the lay of the land (for a better word) does not seem to favor it especially at this period where the night comes rather early, but I might be mistaken. There is a gym on Charleston road where you could advertise for a partner and you should be able to find one. See the address on Supertopo.
