RIP Patrick Edlinger

Patrick Edlinger, 52, died yesterday in France. He was known for his difficult sport climbing ascents in France, and for a famous free solo in the Gorges du Verdon, filmed by Jean-Paul Janssen.

He was a good friend and partner of the late Patrick Berhault.

The french climbing community is very sad today.

RIP. Did he die climbing or not?

Thoughts go out to his family.

He was found dead at home. Apparently, he was depressive, alcoholic, and had a lung cancer as well. Frown

That's sad. Here's hoping he's happier now.

Like a lot of us, his life had his share of good days and better. There is an excellent thread on SuperTopo about him. And, oddly, the thread started a day or so before word of his passing came about.

Best wishes for those who were close to him.
