Patrick Edlinger, 52, died yesterday in France. He was known for his difficult sport climbing ascents in France, and for a famous free solo in the Gorges du Verdon, filmed by Jean-Paul Janssen. He was a good friend and partner of the late Patrick Berhault. The french climbing community is very sad today.

He was found dead at home. Apparently, he was depressive, alcoholic, and had a lung cancer as well.

Like a lot of us, his life had his share of good days and better. There is an excellent thread on SuperTopo about him. And, oddly, the thread started a day or so before word of his passing came about. Best wishes for those who were close to him. Bill L
