in other news, on the way home tonight, saw a bus with a bullet hole through the front windshield. it's the bus I normally take, but it was facing the other direction. gf says this has happened before. broad daylight. busy street. time of day when rush hour is just ending and there are plenty of people around.

She is supposed to go visit an old freind in Arkansas for a couple years now. I told her I'd take the time off from work and she could use the Frenquent flyer miles. But hasn't sent and email or called to start the planning.

The bf and I have season passes to Mammoth so we will probably ski if/when it isn't too much of a madhouse. Might boulder in bishop or hike a bit. Gonna be there until Tuesday! Then back again in gnu years... I think I'll have paid for the pass by the time January hits :P Jelly Do you fly or drive out there each time? I thought you were in Ecop's neck of the woods... I'm confused. I think they drive. Looong drive. I want to know what they do for accommodations... Mammoth isn't unreasonable, it's the accommodations that have kept me from making that stinking drive. There are flights, direct, from San Diego now, too. I should check into that, cause that drive is kind-of a kicker. yeah we put on an audio book and drive drive drive :P As for lodgings, we either sleep in mai truck, or splurge on a room. During the summer/ fall we stayed in the Mammoth scenic loop mostly. when there is more snow, we would head closer to bishop. This time we stayed at Mammoth Mountain inn (the lodgings were a present from teh BF for our anniversary) It was kind of old and run down, but rgiht next to the lift. If Juniper Springs has a deal I like it there because they have kitchens which really save on the food bill, and part of the year they have ski in/ out access. For new years we are staying with a large group which is cutting down on the cost a lot.

epoch wrote: epoch wrote: Skip werk... go klimb. in t-shirts and shorts VOTM!!! yup that's what I'll be doing tomorrow instead of work. I need a personal day... I skipped work and went to VOTM today. (it was rad.... yes) Started on Best Crack in the Moon then found my way working a bit on Einstein's Relativity. Got on Sketch and skared myself half to death. Made the onzite with three falls. Sent Paradigm Shift on the second go; the route is pretty cool. Rounded our way to Patina Wall and did Tech9; it would seem I find myself on it every time. Then kicked over and went up Full Auto before working on M11 for a bit. Got it on my third go. Checked out some new lines on the back wall that aren't documented in the guide. All pretty sweet. Got harassed by Border Patrol agent on a horse. He was quite douchey and was skeptical that we were climbers. Despite the, um, ropes harness and such. Dude was annoying. On our way out we were harassed again by some 20-something young tool trying to look in the esuvee to see if we had migrants or drugs. To top it off, at the checkpoiint we were harassed again, though this time I suspect it was because I was making faces and being an ass to the cameras. Fuck.. Off to the Bay Area for the weekend. No climbing on this trip. I think we're diving on Friday in Monterrey, though. you missed VOTM thanksgiving. The weather kinda sucked but we made it through 4 turkeys I think.

That'd be a shitty way to find out why the bolt's there. Good that you're back at it. Pay attention to that elbow, though. I'm telling you, you don't want it to flare up. Yep. Protects groundfall. Gray TCU is good substitute??

Speaking of which, I finally moseyed to my university's fitness center and took a look at the "climbing wall," a mostly disappointing assortment of jugs with various undergrads on the floor beneath it doing calisthenics. There is a sign saying that helmets must be worn at all times when roped up.

Well, I went yesterday and tried out a Crossfit class . . . haha, not what anyone here would probably have in mind as a good "something", but a fun experience: a ten-minute workout that left me feeling weak hours later. That really says more about my general fitness right now than the workout, though. So along with trying Crossfit, in the past week I went to my first spinning class (Monday) and today went to my second Zumba class. Any other fitness trends I should try?

Or even just hiking. But I have this job that eats up my morning hours, leaving not much of the day for outdoor pursuits.
