I was sport climbing this weekend and set up a TR anchor on 2 bolts with 2 opposite and opposed quickdraws so my partner could follow. The gates were facing in as pictured 
When they climbed the route on TR, the gates somehow rubbed against each other and the gate started to come unclipped.
Has this ever happened to anyone before? I've heard as long as the gates are opposite and opposed it is safe but I'm definitely facing the gates outwards from now on... thoughts?

Better to have the gates of the rope-end biners facing away from each other.
