I am looking for an outfit, guide, or someone that I can learn the basics from. I sport and trad, and I live in the Philadelphia suburbs. Can anyone provide some info for me?

Thanks.

Rock and river lodge in the dax is really good but might be a little to far from philly. it is in a super good centraly located spot for people trying to learn ice climbing. they have a guiding service as well as a man made ice wall.
If you go for the paying for services route to learn thats who I would reccommend.

Maybe a little closer to Philadelphia: Marty Molitoris mountain guide specialist in ice climbing and also the author of the ecellent guidbook on Iceclimbing in the Catskills.
Conditions in the Catskills are still "marginal" but are getting better everyday .
I do not have his contact number but it should be available on the web.

There's usually a listing of Catskill ice conditions on that site too.
