Has any one done a winter ascent of the West Slabs?

I was looking at it the other day - looks a bit snowy. I was doing some aiding in Rock Canyon last weekend - there was some ice on the Green Monster slab that I was climbing on.

I'm getting some practice in for that Zion climb - I'm getting more optimistic about doing it in a day - with the Russian Aiders.

You still interested?

I did the West Slabs in January 1977. It was a great climb. We used crampons for the slabs route and then removed them once we got to the ridge. It took a while to get to the summit so start early. We took a small rack and belayed mostly from small trees. The climbing was moderate. Had a good time!
