But 'biner is clearly not the bitch here, so she must have balls, so she must be a man?

Gawd... If you were my girl friend I would have dumped you if this is how you argue with people.

Then how do you look at yourself in the mirror and avoid self loathing?

And in your formative years to boot...

Scratch that, I'd say 5 pages is pretty good no?

The thread was getting away from you there for a bit but you've managed to reign it back in. Six pages, good job!

Thanks for the laugh.

In case it wasn't clear, I stopped arguing with you after your first response to my post. You asked for example of a statement you made that sounded racist. I gave you one. You didn't seem to understand, and, instead or continuing a reasoned argument, resorted to a typical cop-out of grade-school name-calling.

Now we are done with arguing, we are just feeding a troll.

So here's a question for Lena - or anyone on her team. You are fond of throwing the word "racist" around. Can you define it?

I don't think that you really need much introspective subtlety or even original thought to be able to tell that jbone was spouting some racist bullshit.

You are just pissy that I went to the undisputed authority on the english language rather than attempting to form a definition which you could attempt to criticize. Not to sound like too much of an intellectual elitist, but a large part of knowledge is knowing the appropriate source to find information for analysis.
And, according to the OED's definition, jbone's earlier statements were distinctly racist.

I just imagine that when you say this it sounds like you're plugging your nose. It's just so cliche that a geeky post whore would respond with something he thinks is clever but is really just elementary childish BS.

A classic appeal to authority....
I'd prefer an actual approach to original thought - as opposed to knee jerk reaction. You don't get much of that around here.

I don't think that you really need much introspective subtlety or even original thought to be able to tell that jbone was spouting some racist bullshit.

Misguided and lacking in perspective, most certainly. Racist, maybe.

Racist is a pretty big conclusion to jump to (yes, I know this is the soapbox and that is what we do here) based on a few posts that are clearly intended to be contrarian and argumentative. Might want to go a little easy with throwing that label around. Just sayin.

Just went back and read the first page. I should not have responded based on memory alone.

Racist.

I Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who participated in the discussion. The producers of the commercial managed to find an African-American climber for the ad. Check it out and let me know what you think: http://www.ispot.tv/ad/7I_e/coors-light-v-spot-mountain-climbing

Totally cheesy ad, and represents climbing about as well as the Vertical Limit, but still, that's great that it's got a black climber in it. And Ice Cube, of course.

And, in similar news to the overall gist of this thread, this kid is crushing lately...

Yes very cheesy, not necessarily a sincere represenation of the sport. But that wasn't the point. To the producers' credit they managed to find an experienced athlete to play the part and offer an authentic representation of black climbers to an audience of black consumers. That kind of equity in advertising that shows a range of participation across racial lines is a sign of progress
