Went up to the Gunks today, thinking the warm weather would make for good climbing. What I didn't realize was that it would be very foggy, and that the rock was cold, so moisture condensed on it. Rock was very wet, and we did not climb at all. Stopped at West Point on the way home, but conditions were similar.

It was awful. I opted to cross country ski (barely adequate conditions, but doable) and go to yoga. I was really hoping to climb. Alas, it was seepy, wet, misty and moist.

We were thinking if it just got a bit colder, we could rent some ice climbing equipment from Ice and Snow.

January in the Gunks and climbing conditions are less than ideal. How odd... Curt

Old Rag was beautiful, but a little damp. Got to climb Oh My God Dihedral on Sunday. That alone made it worth hiking up there. Heading back up next weekend to do Bushwhack and whatever else i can get my fingers on. Pretty psyched on that place.

I am so suprised. I figured you would be subject to the same weather we had. Good for you.
