I hang costume pieces (angel wings, wigs, big t-shirts etc) on several of the draws on the route. The kids climb up (on top rope), find a good stance and put on the costume. They climb to next draw and and remove said costume...repeat until they are on the top of the climb. Lower off. The kids enjoy the silly costumes and it teaches them how to find restful stances.

My boys, (8 & 10) like to play "Simon says". "Simon says, left hand green." for instance. Also like to climb blindfolded. Their favorite is Pirates of the Caribiners. They climb up with nurf swords and whack each other until someone falls.

Another thing we do is put something like pipecleaners at the top of a climb. If the kid makes it up, he takes one pipecleaner. End of the night you turn in all pipecleaners for a small prize.
