Shocked

Is that when Comic-Con TVShow-Con is happening? I sure hope you didn't pay full price for those tickets. The whole thing has gone downhill since I last attended. Seriously. It's as bad a Burning Man has got. The whole feel of the event is not what it used to be.

Debbie Downer

If you've never been before, its going to be great! Seriously.

I'm saying that the whole feel of the event has been too commercialized. Everyone is either dressing up in costume trying to 1up the next person or is there to ogle at the costumed people. More of the latter than the former. Though there is bound to be 200 or so Princess Lea's and whatever hot movie is out a month before the event you'll be sure to encounter several characters from there. Expect to wait around to meet the cast of your favorite television show or sit in on some ho-hum movie talk.

There isn't the hype of having the roots of Comic Convention anymore. Call me hipster, but BITD it was about the comics and the hype around the stories. You're bound to find the webcomic writers and artists around, and maybe some displays here and there. You will leave with giant goodie bags of swag, most of which you will keep and tote home only to dispose of in a month or two. You are going to be a kid in a candy store. Enjoy it.

I, however, will be 1) working; 2) drinking beer; or 3)climbing. The weather is always good around that time and there is plenty of rock to play on that the comic kids won't be on... Cool

my sister is big into the whole dragon-con thing. Gotta be the same as comic-con right?

Maybe... I'm not a dragon kind of girl... I'm a total trekkie/scifi nutter, I dig comics, zombies, video games, and I'll even watch the occasional fantasy film.

Yeah, that sounds like her. She's recently started a business making custom costumes for these events.

Ooo! I need a costume!

Is that a request to be put in contact with her?

Requesting suggestions on what to make/build... Only poseurs *buy* costumes.

Here's a list:

EVE - make a trashcan sexy. Difficulty: hard

Liara T'Soni - I think you could pull this off. Though, getting the head shape right is key.Difficulty: moderatly hard.

Gigolo Jane - impressive and not too hard to do. Best one-line role ever. Difficulty: average - medium

Silk Spectre - diffculty: average

This is a starter list. I can keep going... What sort of theme are you looking for? There are many possibilities, but... are you looking for true dork or slutty Halloween costume type? or something in between.

The old site (current site) is hosted by Blogger and has a lot of limitations. The new site also has limitations, but seems to be better for what I want / could use.

Not sure of the limitations of weebly sites, though, so if anyone has experience with them, please tell.

If I knew fuckall about web design I'd take a look but I don't, so I would be of no use.

Which is more or less par for the course.

Took Sylas to an inflatable slide/bouncy castle festival yesterday at the warplane museum. It was pretty cool until he got me to take him up the biggest slide an go down with him. Somehow, I got pulled into the corner on the way down and as I lost control my right arm just locked onto the seam, I have a sort of "rug burn" going from my wrist to my elbow.

Arm is all wrapped up, I look like a left-handed cutter.

Did a shore dive in La Jolla. Saw several lobster, 7 varieties of nudibranchs, juvenile sarcastic fringehead fish, adult sarcastic fringhead fish, scores of squid egg pods, but the highlight was the octopus that I found that was as curious about us as we were it. That was cool.

6.3 mile run today.

I hate running.

However, I'm starting to enjoy it. It's a great way to spend my lunch, calm the mind, and zone out on nothing in particular. I've been running for the past 5 weeks. It sucked sweaty ballsack the first week, but now it's not too bad. I'd have kept going but this was the longest run I've done since starting and I still have work to do. At this rate, I should be up to some good mileage soon. I've been doing 2.5-3.5 miles 4 days a week; and doing whatever on the weekends. I noted the difference yesterday in the approach. Usually the 2 miles with 2k elevation gain at the one cliff kicks my ass. I felt great when we got to the bottom yesterday.

I hate running....

I hate running, too. Kills my knees. Would love to bike more here, but it's too dangerous. I stick to walking about 2 hours per day (to class, back home, to class, back home). It's helped.

It's funny because it's not a blog any more (well, actually, the climbing one is still, but that's meant to be a blog).
