Not sure where you are as far as location. If you are close to the district, Carderock is the area you need to hit. Real social and easy to meet climbers.

Thanks for the responses, the beta, and for the opportunity to get to know those of you whom I've met. I'm in Northern Va., in Winchester. What about Harper's Ferry? Do people climb there? Is it legal? Again, gracias...

The best places by far to climb around here in my opinion (in MD and northern virginia are in this order): Great Falls, Annapolis Rocks, Carderock, and Sugarloaf. I actually went on a field trip last week to Harper's Ferry b/c it is a historic place or something (I wasn't really paying attention on the trip ) It is definitely a cool town, and I saw some crags which looked O.K . . . i might not make a point of going there though, but I don't know too much about it. If you need any beta just let me know. I love dispensing info lol
See ya

For info on Harper's Ferry click on Indy's Guide to Hidden Climbs of Maryland. This area (Maryland Heights) has a few good trad routes. Be sure to wear a helmet. Very hot in summer and loud due to trains.
