see the vid.

I think they may have ruined it. Glad I scooped a 50L up on clearance!
45 seems a tad small to hold a rope and double rack inside with daily stuff like food, water, etc.

Whoa. That's a really good deal! I would jump on that if I didn't already own one.

I too think the "improved" version may turn out to be worse than the original, although this is only by looking at pictures and reading descriptions of the new version.

Maybe they fixed the hydration pocket, which is so tight on the original you can barely squeeze a bladder into it, and I think they redesigned the internal gear loops, which are not particularly useful on the original because of their vertical orientation and positioning at the outer edges of the pack

I liked the top and classic Arcteryx back pockets on the original, can't tell whether the replacements are as functional. I also like the top handle on the original more than the side handles on the new one. If you have to carry a big rack, double ropes, and a lot of clothes, it is nice to be able to carry a rope and your helmet outside the pack. The compression straps on the old model (which can be installed in two positions) made this simple, the new model appears to just have elastic suitable for carrying a jacket or rain shell.

The old model has the Arcteryx roll top, which is an acquired taste, and many folks dislike it, so the new all-around zipper might be a step in a good direction for them. Lost however is the ability to use the pack (suitably emptied) as a "belay" chair.

All told, for $150 commie maple syrup dollars, the old version is a fantastic deal.

(Edited because I can't spell "Arcteryx.")
