could potentially be moving to chicago area (north chicago/lake bluff area) and curious what if any climbing gyms there are in the area? anyone from the chi town area have any suggestions?

Lake Bluff? More like Wisconsin than Chicago :)
Unfortunately, you'd be far East of the big gym in the north burbs - North Wall in Crystal Lake. There may be some hidden gems; health club walls and the like, but I'm not familiar with them.
In the city (45 minutes in good traffic), you have:
Off Belay - casual bouldering with some late night sessions offered
Hidden Peak - more training-oriented bouldering
Various health club gyms of varying quality (LVAC, LSAC, FFC Old Town)
Other gym(s) to come later this year
South/southwest burb gyms (Vertical Endeavors and that other one I can never remember the name of) will likely be too far of a drive.
On the plus side, you're closer to Devil's Lake and Governor Dodge in WI, and can pop up to Kenosha for bratwurst and cheese curds whenever you want...
