I'm a beginner, but want to climb in and around Mexico City, Estado de Mexico, and possibly Oaxaca. Anyone know guides or companies or groups I could get help from? Many thanks for any help.

I love climbing in Mexico City and Oaxaca. I have an article about climbing in Los Dinamos (http://www.rockclimbing.com/...y_Cragging_1440.html) and I can recommend a good friend and guide, Carlos Garcia. He has also developed a great sport crag called Las Manzanas just outside the City.
He could guide in Oaxaca also or you could use a local guide/gym owner Erik Lopez. We opened a new route in Santiago Apoala over a span of a few years. Near Oaxaca are other areas he could take you to.
