Many (if not most) parks and reservations in New Jersey prohibit climbing or even bouldering. Does anyone know a place in New Jersey that's not so crowded where you are allowed to boulder?

I'm curious on this too? I will be doing some training in Jersey over the summer and would like to get out and climb a little while I'm there. Morristown is where I'll be, but I'll have a rental to travel.

Allamuchy is real close to Morristown. But going there once is prolly enough.....At least its granite. There should be enough in the database here to find another suitable location. Really depends on what your looking for.

From there though you can get to the Gunks in under 1.5 hours though.

If you're into bouldering they have a few nice problems in west orange nj at turtle back rock.. very easy to get to and pretty neat boulders.. but there are not a ton of routes.. It does have some trad or toprope options but they are short under 40 ft.. probably 20 minutes form morrsitown so it is great for afterwrok climbing.. I used to go there alot.. Beware of the daddy long legs though there are tons of them by mid summer but a small stick can clear them off any route and they are pretty harmless.

If you are looking for more adventurousness multi pitch routes i'd go to the Delaware water gap mt Tammany had some awesome routes..

Falcon guides came out with a NJ climbing guide. that has alot of info if you really are interested.
