Hello all,

I'll be moving to NM around July. Rock climbing has always been a big interests of mine and I've only gotten into the hobby so far through indoor walls. I'm looking forward to stepping outside and really becoming a part of the hobby. Who here climbs this state frequently and what kind of advise can you offer? Once July gets closer, I'd be interested in finding some climbing buddies who can point me in the right direction.

Lots of climbing here though NM is pretty spread out. Where are you moving to?

There's only a handful of indoor gyms around, and most of those pretty small, but you can usually climb outside somewhere all year round. You can probably find more info on Mountain Project than here. July will be fairly warm at the lower elevations but if you go higher it should be good as long as things aren't closed down due to fire restrictions; it's been a pretty dry/warm winter.

Hey Shock, thank for the reply.

I'll be moving to Clovis, about 4 hours away from Albuquerque. I realize it's a long drive but I figure it'll be ok for a weekend trip. According to Google Maps, I'm only finding one gym and that's Patriot Outdoors. I'll have to check out Mountain Project. Thanks for the heads up.

There is a small gym in Amarillo, but that's still about 2 hrs away. I see your profile says USAF so maybe you'll get lucky and Canon will have a wall. MWR here at Kirtland has a small facility set up for training. Anyway, if there's anything I can do to help just give a shout.
