I recently Heard about tihs epic route in the gunks and was wondering if anyone new where there was any beta for the climb. The swain book implies that the guide was 8 pages long and thus was left out. I'd love to give this some thought but a little beta would be great. Also anyone know the legality of having to Bivy on the Gunks cliff since this route is 67 pitces and 9000ft?

I know someone who I think has a copy of the topo. I also know that you would be traversing through lots of routes, so it would be tough to do during the day. I don't know the answer to your bivy question, though. Also, try asking on Gunks.com: http://gunks.com/...eads7/ubbthreads.php

You're going to drag bivi gear sideways for 9K feet, on a cliff where you're no more than 150' from the top or bottom the entire route (in some spots, literally only 20' off the ground)? Also, consider how this might impact others on the cliff. And if you're going to not be purist and haul from where ever the first day ends (meaning rap, get gear bags, jug and haul), then why not just descend for the night?

If done in the right season with the help of a few friends don't think I would need to haul gear the whole way.. In the summer I could get buy without a substantial sleeping bag just a pad and a 40 degree bag.. and if I bribed some friends o meet us on the cliff at the end of a day and drop off more water this could keep our gear to a daypack size.. easily. Eating mostly dry food with no need for cooking gear. If this was done midweek the issue of running into a lot of other groups is not really a problem.. Obviously the smart thing to do is to rap down then jug up at first light but i'm throwing out some hypothetical ideas.. I understand this is a somewhat asinine undertaking but i thought it would be fun to toy around with in my head.

Why not go ahead and bolt it? I am kidding, by the way. This is a Ken Nichols route, after all.
