Does anyone have any contacts who might be interested in opening up a climbing gym in Louisiana, specifically near Shreveport?
There is absolutely no climbing gym in that whole area and it could be a potentially huge market, especially near the college there. The reason i ask is my sister lives there and would love to climb but has no means to nearby, i'm trying to help her out.

Any help at all would be awesome. Thanks all!

If you are serious about this then you should check out http://www.climbingwallindustry.org/, and think about going to the Climbing Wall Association trade show coming up in May.

Good luck.

She is just out of luck. I live in New Orleans and fortunately the closest climbing gym is about 40 minutes away (Slidell). I also make trips to Lafayette (2.5 hours away, better rock gym) a couple times a month. Additionally, I know a fellow that drives from Mississippi to climb at Slidell. Moral of the story is: A) make a day trip with a few buddies to the closest rock climbing gym (looks to be Dallas or somewhere in Arkansas) and B) build her own wall (not hard, not expensive). Short of that, not sure when rock climbing will take off in LA so don't hold your breath; this is coming from someone that was born/raised in CA. Do what you can!
