Hey fellas! So I just got a new job working in wilderness therapy. This means I'll be on the trail 8 days in a row and thus completely unable to climb. I'm just starting to get to the point where I'm feeling pretty good (I climb v5's, couple 6's, I haven't been on a rope for a while but 5.11a-ish is where I normally am). I don't want to lose what I've got, and in many ways want to try to improve my strength and coinditioning.. so I'm trying to come up with quick bodyweight exercises that will help maintain my climbing strength. I seem to have idea's for most body parts...but where I'm really struggling is back (especially upper back like lats) and forearm and finger strength. So far all I can think of is doing some figertip pushups for my fingers, maybe grabbing a rock and doing forearm/wrist lifts as I walk and back grabbing rocks and doing some rows. Do you guys have any suggestions for those areas or anything else that you think could help me out?

You should be able to find tree limbs for wide grip pull-ups and finger tip pull-ups.

Sadly not reliably. the vast majority of the trees in the are are juniper's - weak and more tall bush like than trees. Might be a few cottonwoods here and there around some of the washes.

when i was working wilderness therapy i never trained on shift. For one i was with adjudicated youth that i really couldn't leave alone. For another i didn't find the need. I would just climb/train every day of my off time and then "rest" on shift. I found great improvement with the forced rest days. The only drawback i found was what i ate. On shift i tended to eat a lot, backpacking mentality, then when i got off it was hard to switch my calorie intake to match. WT is a great profession and i firmly believe you can still climb strong while doing it.

I would recommend a trx type system. Super light weight system you can carry with you and hang off a tree. Use your body weight to train any muscle group you want!
