Any recommendations on anchors to rappel out a window? I don't want to use a bedpost, and was thinking of tying 2 slings to the part of a fire escape ladder that actually attaches to the window.
Why on Earth do you want to do this?

Actually, forget the explanation, it will probably be hella fun. To ensure that this endeavor will be the experience of a lifetime, you will need 75' or so of 3/4" static line (preferably red in color) tied to the copper pipe exiting the water pump in the basement. Run it up the stairs, through the kitchen and down the hall, then across the bedroom near the spot where the dog sleeps, and tie a figure eight with a bunch of backup knots at the window opening. Use your mom's best coat to protect the rope from running over the sill.

Yes, this will work.

A friend of mine is in a wheel chair from a rapelling-from-window accident. Just sayin'.

It would be an awkward start getting on rappel. More awkward than many outdoor raps. And you'd probably want to take backup measures in case you blew it.

I have done it in training for fire bail out conditions, but with that said it is a last resort option. We use it only because if we don't the fire will kill us.
