Hi, I shall be heading to france and spain in a few weeks time for about three months have a few questions.
Does anyone recommend some good spots,
im on my own so what is the best way to find a partner and is there anyone doing near enough the same thing who may be interested in gaining a tag along?
I have a trailer conversion to sleep in and i can climb at best 6b+. Cheers in advance! hope to here from you all!

Hey Kieran,
you have chosen good spots to find high quality climbing:)
Crags: there is plenty written on internet about the famous places like Siurana, Margalef, El Chorro, Oliana (Spain) so I will not elaborate on these (the same for France).
I will propose here just a few crags I have been to which are not that famous, however still beautiful and fantastic for sport climbing. Another thing is weather or in other words TEMPERATURE which will be f*cking high at least in my opinion almost anywhere in France and Spain:) So I would probably try to find something either high above sea level or facing north.
Spain: area around cities of Jaen and Granada, precisely a crag of Rio Cuchillo where there is plenty for everybody and you can find stuff in shade during the day.
France: Ardeche - Cirque du gens (SW and SE facing however you can always find something in shade since this place is really BIG)
Ombleze - a little bit higher above sea level so it does not get that warm there.
These are just a few picks of mine since to cover climbing in these two countries is kind of topic as large as a diploma thesis:)

Wow! Thank you ever so much this is great info! I spent a month climbing with a friend in thailand last year but this is my first trip alone and in europe climbing so any info is good!
Im really grateful, Im fairly out of the loop in the climbing community at the moment so looking to meet people doing maybe vaguely the same sort of thing, is this the best place to find others?

well, about finding fellow climbers its a lot about how you can communicate with locals:) I mean these places I mentioned are not overcrowded with foreign climbers so the best way how to find somebody to climb with is probably to post on some local website (spanish, france) OR just talk to people. May be visit some local climbing gym or try to sleep from time to time at places where climbers do (campsites and stuff like that). You have plenty of time anyway so you have time to socialize a bit right?:) I really like this part when travelling/climbing abroad. Obviously there will be more climbers in the well known crags (siurana, etc...). In case you wann find climbing mates via internet I would try to ask at UKclimbing.co.uk which is probably "closer" than this website. Well the best would be to use spanish of french websites however it depends how you master their language:)
feel free to ask more and sorry for the little bit vague answer...unfortunately I cannot point you to some "address" where you find your climbing mate:)

No once again this is brilliant so thank you!
Yes plenty of time to socialise but note enough time to master the language maybe enough to try and Im fully aware this is enough for some respect and a reply in english ;-).
This is all great so i will get to socialising! This is also my thing about travelling and being a climber, Im very excited now!

I will be free in Lyon, France, early on Saturday 20th July and I need to be back there about 18:00 on Wednesday 24th July. I am looking for a partner since my friend has cancelled. I am happy to travel, not too far. i was thinking of the Ardeche region; somewhere with shade - Mazet Plage would be ideal. Other ideas could be the Vercors but it needs to be somewhere not too hot. i will message you.

Admittedly Ive gained a fair bit of weight and not been training so im probably going to struggling on 6a's as well lol however the idea of doing a big wall sounds amazing!!!!
I have never done one and wouldnt know If we would need anything extra I have a 60m rope and a load of quick draws too.
I shall be driving from Fontainebleu at this point so would be able to go most places but if the is a 6a big wall anywhere im in!!! lol

hi kieran, i forgot to mention that i am really slender (50kg/110lbs)
as such: i can only belay safely partners weighing up to (80kg/175lbs). otherwise, it;s
i hope the weight gap won't be an issue

Hi this shouldnt be a issue, my last climbing parter was 52kg, we just make sure that the belayer is tied down. Either way though even with out tying her down she was capable of belaying me safely. Im 90 kg.
luckily I have had to be belayed buy lighter parties a fair amount, so I'm used to this set up.
