Chris Sharma and Friends celebrate the opening of Sender One Climbing with a weekend of festivities.
Sender One Climbing, Orange County’s newest indoor climbing, yoga, and fitness facility, announced today that it will celebrate the opening of its doors June 14-15, 2013.
Sender One is the first climbing gym owned and designed by Chris Sharma, the world’s foremost climbing ambassador. The much anticipated grand opening of Sender One is expected to attract climbers and outdoor enthusiasts from all over Southern California. Sender One is twice the size and height of any other indoor climbing facility in Orange County with spectacular state-of-the-art technologies.
Sender One will kick off the Grand Opening celebration on Friday, June 14th at 4pm with a members-only night. Members will climb with Chris Sharma plus additional pro-athletes. The list of elite climbing athletes attending includes Daila Ojeda, Daniel Woods, Angie Payne, Paul Robinson, Ashima Shirashi, Joe Kinder, Carlo Traversi, Tommy Caldwell, Courtney Sanders, Dan Beall, and Sierra Blair-Coyle.
The festivities will continue on Saturday, June 15th. Free, open climbing will begin at 10am. The day’s events will include charity raffles, a vendor fair, professional athlete demonstrations, food trucks, and athlete poster signings. Raffle ticket proceeds will benefit Friends of Joshua Tree, a charity dedicated to preserving the tradition of climbing in Joshua Tree National Park, and KidWorks, a local Orange County non-profit organization providing afterschool programming for children and parents of low-income neighborhoods. The day’s events will culminate with a bang at 7pm when Chris and his friends will compete in a unique team bouldering exhibition.
Participating vendors include: Clif Bar & Co., Evolv Sports, prAna, Sanuk, Sterling Rope, Petzl, REI, Mountain Hardwear, Organic Climbing, Skinourishment (makers of Climb On), Teknik, E-Grips, and So-Ill, among many others.
“We are proud to introduce Sender One to Southern California. We welcome all ages and climbing ability-levels -- from those who have never tried climbing to world-class athletes -- to experience our cutting edge climbing, yoga, and fitness facility.” – Wesley Chu, Sender One Climbing, Founder and General Manager.
“It has been a longtime dream of mine to build a climbing gym and I’m really psyched that everything has finally come together.”—Chris Sharma, Professional Climber and Sender One Climbing Owner.
Sender One will elevate what climbers’ believed was possible from an indoor climbing facility with its 50-foot high walls, unique, Sharma-designed walls, dedicated yoga studio, and state-of-the-art fitness area.
