Hey all, I will be traveling to the Riverside area this coming June with my girlfriend. I figured while there we might as well go climbing. The unfortunate thing is, my girlfriend isn't comfortable lead climbing nor belaying lead. So I've been looking through the area for walls that are Top Rope capable. What can you all recommend? We are looking for routes in the 5.9 range and are staying at the Holiday Inn in Colton, CA.

Well, if you are traveling down from where ever by car, you might want to check on stuff along the way. But in Riverside, for TR'ing, its Rubidoux. Not really much of a destination, but if you are in the area with time on your hands and jonesing to get on rock.

Thanks for the reply Donald. I am flying into LAX then driving over to Riverside and staying around there.
Do you happen to know if there is a guide for Mt Rubidoux? I was also reading on the site that TR'ing is possible at Box Springs; do you have any information about that?

Know nearly nothing about Box S, onmly what i've read here.
Rubidoux has no guides in print, hasn't for 20 years. You should be able get what you need between here and mountain project. Not to hard to figure your way around, its a small area over all. Some of the TR will require gear and some long slings.

If you're looking for casual top-roping, you should go to Point Dume. It's a unique experience. The only other top-ropable areas I can think of are Stoney Point and the Planet of the Apes Wall at Malibu Creek.
