Alternatives to tape/band-aids?

Hey everyone. I just bought myself a pair of Scarpa Vapor V's as an upgrade from my previous pair. The upgrade is significantly more aggressive than my old shoes, and I'm experiencing some pain on my left heel. I know they're new shoes and I'm still in the process of breaking them in.

For the time being, does anyone have any remedies to mitigate the pain on the hot spot of my heel? I've tried taping and putting band-aids on the spot, but they just fall off after one climb. Thanks!

Duct tape works great for this.

I once spent a week ice climbing on Katahdin in Maine, and developed heel blisters on day 1 during the 12 mile x-c ski in. I put duct tape over the blisters and left it on for the full week.

It was messy and painful taking it off after 7 days, but it went on over a quarter size blister. I have since used it as precaution against blisters and it works great.

Sounds good, thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try. I was also thinking of folding up a small piece of paper and shoving it between my heel and the shoe. You think that'd work?

If you have tincture of benzoin around (some people use it before taping hands for crack climbing, to make the tape stick better), then using benzoin in combination with moleskin patch makes moleskin stick better and it makes for a better blister repair than duct tape.

I've heard about using moleskin before. Do you know where I can get some patches?

Moleskin is available at any pharmacy, usually near the Dr Scholl's products. It works for me.

The Moleskin works beautifully. Thank you!
