Hello, could someone tell me why did company's stop making wireless Hexes?, is there any safety consideration?
I've seen Hexes on dynema, but I like the possibility to graduate the length of a cord with a fisherman knot...

Buy Some hexes and cut the cables and put on cord.

Look for some used BD's.
Or buy the wildcountry rockcentrics and cut the slings and re-sling with cord.

or drill out the holes so your cord will fit. Be sure to bevel and de-burr the edges. That's what I did.

You are referencing Black Diamond and possibly Metolius here as they both only make wired hexes only. I suspect that it's a "lack of customer" supply issue. The wired versions are more compact and given the low sales volume, they most likely chose only one version, ie wired.
DMM makes slung (dyneema) hexes that are pretty good if that's what you want to roll with due to the flexibility of the slings. If you want to lengthen a placement, clip it with a draw or a runner.

Well, not exactly. The old Chouinard/BD hexes were designed for 5mm-9mm perlon depending on the hex size. Later, they sold plastic inserts to reduce the hole sizes for 5.5 cordage. At some point, they were sold drilled for 5.5 and later slung with wire only. http://climbaz.com/.../graphics/page09.JPG
Still, no reason the wire could not be cut and drilled out for 5.5mm if that's what the OP wanted. Personally, when I use hexes I like a flexible cord on them.

I bought the wired ones thinking that new was better. They are not. I have the original ones, pre-5.5 holes. Prefer them.
