what do you need a stopper knot for if you dont mind me asking?

Is this during rappel? If your rope is longer than the height of the wall at the crag, why stopper knots?

Hey, I need an advice on which stopper knot to choose if the rope is significantly longer than the height of the wall. In that case I would need to make it somewhere in the middle in the rope, right? That rules out all knots which require the passing of the end of the rope through one or more loops, like the ordinary stopper knot (http://www.chockstone.org/TechTips/Stopper.htm). What else can I do?
Thanks for any thoughts or comments!

You could use an Overhand on a bite or a Figure 8 on a bite?

But I'm confused as to why you think you need one.

So in case the rope slips through his hands, the knot will stop the climber before he hits the ground.

Well there you go. I assume you add the stopper knot while the climber is climbing ?

This sounds like more of a troll than anything else.

But if not, here goes.

You need to close the system. Either tie some form of knot in the end of the belayers side of the rope, or have the belayer tie in to the end of rope.

Close the system.

Looks like besides needing more lessons of some kind, Martin635 is one of those serial post deleters - he really doesn't deserve any further answers or discussion.
