Posted in the Campground, but worth repeating: There is a new grub spot in Petersburg, for those of you who just can't eat another pizza on the porch. The Hermitage Inn and Restaurant, located at 203 Virginia Avenue in Petersburg, WV, is now open under new management.

Pasta, salads, steak, trout and catfish, a fantastic Parmesan chicken with angel hair and marinara, and an assortment of Tex-Mex-influenced chicken and beef specials. A lot of the specials menu was created or influenced by yours truly in memory of several years under fire in highly-successful restaurants in Flagstaff (San Felipe's Cantina) and Apache Junction (Canyon Lake Restaurant).

The lunch specials range from simple and affordable to fantastic, and there is also take-out available for those of you in a hurry to get on to the crag or looking to score some good local food before returning to the "real" world.

They are still working on a liquor license, but hope to have it by the end of the month, when the small but well-stocked bar will open.

Hours are Monday thru Friday 11:30-8 pm, Saturday 4-8 pm, and Sunday 11-3 pm. (304) 257-1711.

Thanks!!
I'm always looking for more options, Definitely don't want to eat another pizza on the front porch...unless I have too.

Well.. since the original post, the owner's OCD went off the charts, I left the Hermitage, and they have dropped Sunday from their schedule all together. Most of the food is now precooked and frozen, to be microwaved or deep-fried into submission when ordered, the "fresh" fried catfish is Vietnamese catfish shipped frozzen to a place that has 3-foot-long catfish in the rivers and the trout is also frozen, served in a town five miles from a hatchery. The current cooks test internal food temperatures with an ungloved finger, and chin sweat is a common additive in most dishes.

BUT FEAR NOT! There is still good food in town! Try Lydia's El Salvadorean Southwest fare, good prices, good food, and quick service of large portions. They are just past the Sheetz station coming from Seneca Rocks, on the opposite side of the road and next to the liquor store.

Also, for wing lovers and sports fans, come on down the hill to take the left into the parking lot before the stoplight. 3rd Base Sports Bar and Grill has wide-screen TVs, cold beer in short and tall glasses, hot wings and boneless chicken, fresh-made 8oz burgers and pick-up orders to go. Call them at (304) 257-2273 for prices, and look for live music November 22nd and through the holidays.
