All: I just returned from a trip to CO. where I did my first outdoor climb on a 5.9 called "playing hookey" at Clear Creek Canyon outside of Denver. Now that I have done one, I'm hooked and want to do more closer to home(GA.). I live in Valdosta and realize anywhere is probably going to be a 3-5 hr drive and that's ok. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Any roped climbing worth doing will be in north Georgia, north Alabama, or beyond. So you're looking at a minimum 5 hour drive. Boat Rock southwest of Atlanta is your closest bouldering destination.

The most expansive guidebook series for the southeast is Dixie Cragger's Atlas

Check out Selected Climbs in North Carolina for climbing in North Carolina.

I don't know much about the Valdosta climbing scene. But since you'll be driving through Atlanta to get just about anywhere, I'd suggest looking for partners there as well.

The Atlanta Climbing Club has monthly outings, and is a quick way to get introduced to the southern climbing scene.

Stone Summit is an epically huge gym, and perhaps worth a visit in its own right. Many outdoor climbers go there, so it's a good place to meet other climbers.
