A little behind the scenes of what it takes to put new half soles on a pair of worn climbing shoes.

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. Smile
I would love to see a vid showing how rands are repaired too...

We are working on some better video of a complete "blown out" shoe restoration. It will include the process of new rands as well as sewing and repairing blow outs in the toe box.

How long per pair?

I guess the sole blanks are so long to allow for bigger shoes?

Cool video.

Yes, we generally cut a few different lengths of half soles, this helps us to streamline our process and be more efficient. All of our rubber waste and grindings are sent to nike for reuse as playground and track/field surfaces. You ask how long per pair. We tell our customers 2 weeks maximum but generally they get done a bit quicker than that. Send your shoes in and we would be happy to get you fixed up and back on the rock! We offer rubber from Vibram, FiveTen, Boreal, MadRock, and will soon be offering rubber from Evolv.

it looks as if all the gear is more for a traditional (non-climbing, not traditional climbing) shoe?
do you lose the strong downturned design of the more aggressive shoes when resoling them? I've got a pair of Scarpa Instincts in need of a resole but would cry if they became flat footed shoes after getting resoled. I've always bit the bullet and bought new shoes.

Our equipment is multi purpose as we resole hiking boots, Chacos, and approach shoes along with climbing shoes. We resole alot of Muiras and we maintain the downturned toe on any advanced shoe. We have resoled a bunch of Solutions, Testarosas, and Katanas, while maintaining an almost stock toe position. As with any resole, you may notice a slight change but nothing drastic or detrimental. We would be honored to work on your shoes for ya.

Pretty rad video! I've always wondered about how blow-outs get repaired, can't wait for the new video!

P.S.
I've got a pair of moccs and mythos that have toe blow-outs that have been sitting just in case I run across someone who can repair them, I'm psyched on stumbling upon this!
