Looking for a partner for Saturday or Sunday, October 5 or 6 in the Budd Lake area of New Jersey. First time in the area (here for work for another week), so just want to check it out. For a new area with a new partner prefer mellow routes, something in the 5.8 and below range is good, trad or easy sport. I'm thinking Allamuchy State Park, but am open to other places you want to climb within 75 miles or so, such as PA or NY. I don't have a rope, but have shoes, harness, a few draws, cams, nuts, and a car. The first snow may be coming next week, so this weekend may be the last chance to climb in this area for the season. Thanks.

Allamuchy is certainly close by, but you're within 75 miles (2 hrs) of the Gunks.

And I wouldn't consider a brief early snowfall in October to signal the end of the season. If it happens, it'll melt fast and in a couple days we'll all be climbing dry rock.

But on that subject, where do you get the idea that it's going to snow? I'm seeing highs in the mid 70s for the next 10 days.
