Hey guys. I am completely new to rock climbing. But lately I have gotten more and more into the outdoors. I would like to know if there are any members in the texas area who would be willing to help me learn how to climb or boulder. Thanks.

Texas is a big area--can you be more specific on your location?

I'm in Cali so can't help.

bouldering is awesome because you can just show up (hopefully with a crash pad) and away you go! You should be a little more careful with the high angle stuff, gravity's a bitch!

Not knowing your location I can't help you at all, but is there a local climbing gym you can go to and hopefully meet some people who can help you out?

Good luck!

Hey guys.

I am located in south texas. I have a dream of going to different states and learning from different people and meeting new sites. I hope one day I can. Do you all do some kind of training in order to get started?

you can build your skills at an indoor gym. You will also meet other climbers who can help you with your technique and interest in outdoor climbing.

Also check with a local gym or use a search engine and see if your area has a climbing club.

You could also go out to the climbing sites and work on traverses lower to the ground, same as with a climbing gym. That will also put you in the same area with climbers. Just make sure not to climb under them.

There is a great group of people in Houston that often climb at E rock and other areas around there as well, as making trips elsewhere. Friends of E rock would be a good place to start.
