Cable on Hex bent

So after using some used hexes I bought I noticed there was a small bend in the cables. Like the cable was smushed. It worries me but I feel like the hexes should still be bomber. I am not sure, new to trad climber, figured I should get some 2nd opinions.

If its just bent, I'd use it. If its frayed, I may still use it in certain situations where I can back it up.

See if you can bend it back by hand. You can use pliers but watch out that you don't do damage.

Thatīs a kink, not a bend. Straighten it and then check if any strands broke straightening it. If yes bin it, if no then itīs o.k.
Iīd guess all my wired nuts look like that anyway.

^^^ This. Well, I do have a few nuts that aren't kinky. <insert joke here>

No frays, so it'll hold -- provided you place it properly.

Bends in cables happen all the time, especially if the piece has held falls or been weighted. No need to straighten it, although you can rotate the wire and reposition the kink if it makes you feel more comfortable...

No need to straighten the cable unless you're just OCD. That things bomber. Take a look at your kit after 100 pitches and you'll notice a lot of bent cables. Totally normal.

The cable is fine. its aviation grade probably 7x19 galvi and super strong. unless you got 30% of the cable broken then it becomes useless otherwise just use it and no need to bend it back.

you can always mail it to me if you don't want it.

You donīt need to straighten it but you can either see if the strands are damaged beforehand or wait until you fall off and straighten it! Though on the one shown I wouldnīt bother either.

Looking at the image again there is no need to straighten it [unless OCD] since it doesn't look like it will interfere with placing the piece.

Just fall on it again and it will straighten right up.

1. I've heard that many brands test their cables with 20% of the strands cut. You'll be fine with that kink.

2. Personal preference - I hate wired hexes. Snip the cable and replace with cord.

Make sure cord will actually fit through the holes before you cut the wire.

Borrow a twist drill. Drill to accept 5mm spectra cord. Chamfer edges.

Don't worry too much about 'weakening' the aluminum. Before wire and before spectra, hexes were drilled for cordage up to 9mm. When BD sold 5mm "Gemini" cord, they also sold plastic inserts to reduce the existing hole size so the 5mm cord would fit tightly.

Edit: That bent cable looks fine to me. I wouldn't bother doing anything.
