Ok a little last minute but we've just landed here for a wedding but brought out climbing gear and extended our stay.

We'll have about 5 days and heading west in a camper van to get some of the great ocean road in also.

We have a single 60 and maybe 3/4 rack of trad gear.

Can anyone recommend any areas with a range of routes, ideally sport but happen to do trad if routes are relatively straight ok with a smallish rack?

As much specific info as possible is appreciated?

Cheers!!!!!

Try http://www.thecrag.com. It is a route database site run by Aussies, so it has generally pretty good data for climbing in Australia.

Mt Arapiles is simply the best trad crag in the world. 4 hours drive west from Melbourne or 3 hours north west from the end of the Great Ocean Road. It's jus outside of t Natimuk, a small climbers town with a cafe that's 30km west of Horsham. A single rope and small trad rack will suffice, there's great camping at 'Araps' and ~ 3000 routes within walking distance of your tent. There will be plenty of other climbers for info there too. Enjoy!

Cheers guys!. Arrived last night and about to set off up "the bard". Can't beleive these climbs... steep enough to be E2 or 3 and yet the aus grade converts to about VS!

Girlfriend will love this place I recon!

Yep, welcome to Arapiles where some climbs are like climbing a ladder! (But much more fun!)

There is plenty of harder stuff though as you probably have already worked out.
