One of West Virginia's true heroes and hardmen, as well as a prolific and all-around climber on the national scene, Brian McCray passed away this weekend.

From Seneca to Nelson to New River to the crags of the west, Brian left his mark on the crags, and on all the folks lucky enough to have felt the sunshine of his smile, as we shared a laugh, rope, camp or meal with him.

Adios, my friend, and thank you, Brian- see ya on the next pitch.

My condolences. I've seen his routes all over the place. Wish I had met him.

He most definitely left his mark out west as well. He will be missed
