An old friend and climbing partner passed away Friday after he fell while leading the finishing pitch on Bells Beast in Bells Canyon, Utah. He was leading on easy terrain and fell.

Michael and I almost died while descending the west face of Squaretop during a storm in the 90s. We made it and I have been forever grateful for our lives since then.
