In (N.American) english we yell things like:
"c'mon, you got it!"
"Go!"
"NIce work"
etc.

I have some french friends who yell:
"Allez!" Go!

Some russians yell:
"Davai!"

Anybody know any more? If english is a second language to you then what to you say/shout to encourage your climbing friends? And what do they mean?

When I climbed with my friend from Ecuador, we often would yell back and forth "Andele!" or just "bueno"

(Andele being the rough equivalent of the English "Excellent, keep going" and bueno obviously meaning "Good")

Sometimes we yell things like "poes klup it", which is Afrikaans slang for give it a hard f***ing smack.

Well it just so happens that I'm learning Russian right now, mostly cause if I didn't I wouldn't be able to communicate with the majority of the people here.

"(Ochen) harasho!"/(Very) good!
"Biyackeli!"/GO!
"(Ochen) harashaya!"/(Very) Nice!
"Harosho rabotaet."/Good work.

I dunno my Russian is a little rough yet. Also try and read those with a Russian inclination or accent in your voice. I tried to write them as best I could using our Latin alphabet.

Anyhow!
cheers

All right here's the spanish encouragement I got on Cotopaxi in Ecuador(in my opinion the best place place I've ever been to, if you're going to South America, go to Ecuador)

"Puedes hacerlo!" You can do it!
"Vayate!" or just "Vaya!" Go!
"Vamanos!" Lets go!
"Que lindo/lind!" or "Que plano" said after a great move
"Movate!" move!

Even though both I and my climbing partner speak russian we find that its much easier to yell encouragments in english like: "Get you dumb lazy ass up there." and "If you didn't owe me money I would drop you like a sack of stones"

"Sweet!"
"Nice!"
"Go for it!"
"Yesss!"
These are the words/phrases you mostly hear as encouragement in my part of South Africa.
