Even though my climbing experiance is limited(just started),I would probably do it if there was somewhere on the coast that wasn't battered by huge waves. Actually, now that I think about it I remember someone at school talking about a lake that had a cliff on one side with really deep water underneath it.
Missing the dyno would be just as fun as sticking it!

Hmmmm....one thing I've never could figure out about deep water soloing is the case of the fall....wet shoes, and bye bye chalk...or perhaps you water soloists have some crafty solution to the problem....hmmmmm....

What you do about the chaulk and wet shoes is that you have more than one pair of shoes. have a look at this vid. www.climbxmidea.com it is on dosage and is whicked. they are climbing a 60 foot wall and falling off alot.

Should any of you decide to go above 50 or 60 feet, when you fall, if you fall...be sure to keep your legs together and your arms over your head. should your legs come apart, a fall of higher than 70 feet will snap your legs off like twigs in a hurricane. Unless your arms are over your head, if your lucky, the water wont catch your fingertips, pull your arms out, and you wont have to deal with the excrutiating pain of having the surfacing nerve on the backside of your arm slap into the surface of the water.

OH BABY! I LOVE DEEP WATER SOLOING!
I live in Arizona, and believe it or not have found a perfect place for it. Perfect sandstone in a canyon filled with water year round. Beautiful landings (but always make sure.) Anything from 10 feet to over fifty feet! (Though my courage hasn't taken me over 20, yet ) I'm telling you, this place is awesome, and it's close to Flagstaff and Winslow... I'd say more about it, but I haven't done enough yet, seeing as how the water is like 40 degrees this time of year! Anyway, Clear Creek is the place! when i saw the dose about it at climbx i almost baught a ticket to spian till i realized there nuthing on that cliff i could climb were is that pictuer taken ?????

in the video on the dose i heard they brought ten piars of shoes and ten chalk bags each of course there sposored i think youde have to go shoeless and chalkless

Summersville Lake in WV is the place to be if this is your thing. You can solo on cliffs varying from 20ft to 100ft on established climbs. Personally I don't go above 30ft or so. Blowing a big move and landing on your back really sucks.

there are some nice places in england. dorset aboy 15 -35 feet I thiink. There are alot of easy trad climbs above deep water that I want to try this summer.

At least at Summersville, you float over or traverse over. If David (slcliffdiver) pipes in he will tell you the scoop, he's all about soloing above the lake.

I'd sure like some of you brit's to chime in here! In england they've made this into a whole other "style " of climbing. They have "splash" rating's- S1to S5? which indicte what the water is like ie..depth rocks, height of fall. They also have a number of Deep water soloing festivals every summer. I'd like more info on the festivals if anyone has any!

there is one in august DORSET DEEP WATER SOLOING. There is an article in the novemder issue 2002 about it. there are lots of trad climbs done above deep water that no one has attempted that I know of. I thinkthay dont atempt it because it is realy high.
the juy talking about the water landing is 100% wright because I used to do bridge jumping

Unfortinatly i live in florida and there is no deep water soloing here. and the nearest from what you all are saying is in texas. oh well but we do go and climb some trees and jump off, i guess those are just stupid red neck games though.

There is A LOT of deep water soloing here in Alabama (especially in the Canyon); all over the southeast for that matter...
