After a minuets rest I step up from my position to place a few quarter inch sized chocks into the corner crack where the roof meets up with the face. From back at my resting spot I am able to reach a flake on my right and traverse out along underneath the roof. I use the crack and handholds while smearing on the face to reach another outside corner. Seeing an old sling hanging on the face I keeps me traversing out onto the wall where I find a very shallow crack that has two old pins hammered mercifully into place IE the second, hanging belay. Clipping into the gear I lean back sinking into my not so comfortable harness and take a look around. I'm located underneath a large 10 foot overhang that is split by a menacing crack down the middle this is our exit. Underneath me is over 300 feet of vertical rock sloping into the valley below. My climbing partner whom I cant see is located some where down and left of me at the end of the long slender rope slung out across the face and extending down into the corners. I yell off belay and wait for a response.
