Has anyone used this new little toy called the Tibloc? I have had mine for about a year or so now and have found so many uses for it. I was wondering if anyone else has one and what they think of it?

I don't have one but I've been curious. Do you mind posting some of the ways you've used it? What you like about it and possibly what you don't like?

Thanks.

I Always carry 2 tibloc's when climbing trad for a couple of reasons.

1. While climbing trad there is a much greater risk of getting a rope stuck than when sport climbing, and a lightweight emergency way to ascend the rope is an asset.

2. Tibloc's are much eaiser to use for rescue applications than prusik or bachman knots. I personally used 2 tiblocs to haul an inept caver up a short pitch she shouldn't have gotten herself into. Had I not had them, she would have been S.O.L.

Tibloc's really aren't toys, they're tools. They are very good at what they are intended for, and I really like mine.

Sure bro,
It was made for many things and hell yes, it works in many ways. I have used it (so far) for rescue, pulley systems, ascending (rope grab) even as a tool for tension on the rope (like a wench type thing) although its not good for your rope if you do that a lot. Some people say that it will fray your rope after lots of use (this is the one downfall), but i must say that so far there has been no surface wear or tear that i can see yet, and i used it on a 11.6 static to go back out of a cave in a frog system.

These guys (The Tiblocs brothers) are sweet. I recommend two. And the ease of use for belaying(top side) or helping another, or needing any support on a line those Tibloc twins are a sweet answer.
Such a simple tool, but great pieces.

Yea no problem Sorry for the lack of clarity. My wife says I always do this.

Ease of belaying someone who is having a tough time thru a crux and needs a little assistance. Not in place of a belay device. The mechanical advantage I can get with two make it real easy to assist one upwards.
But basically that is just hauling and I should have stated that.
The simplicity has impressed me. But twenty some odd bucks seems like quite a bit for the little guys.

I always carry two on my harness for either emergency ascent or rigging a haul system to pull a partner past a crux. or, if you're really lucky, you can use it in the dark on a descent, on a wet rope, trying to pull the rope from the rap rings high above!

although they are pricey ($20!!!) they are well worth it...

I would like to know where in Canada you got them for $15 CDA. MEC currently lists them for $27 CDA.

I got mine through Europe Bound. I know the owners quite well. Also, we have an organization out here in Toronto and we purchase gear through Petzl, so now we are paying about $12.00 for them.
