On January 31st at the Fortress of Solitude near Rifle, Colorado, Adam Stack made the third ascent of Tommy Caldwell's Kryptonite after 20 days of projecting and only a few days before leaving on a six-week trip to Europe. Kryptonite, originally rated 5.14d by Caldwell, came under scrutiny after François Legrand's cleaning produced a second hold which Yuji Hirayama (who was the 2nd ascentionist) said would make the route a 5.14c. Stack, therefore avoided using the manufactured hold calling his redpoint method "Kryptonite au naturel" and confirmed the 5.14d grade.
