I am a Washington, DC resident looking for some climbing buddies. I started climbing about four years ago, however, I only get out once a year in Joshua Tree. I am looking for people to go on weekend excursions with in this region---even day trips. I am a high school teacher during the week so weekends only!!

I'm Soluth of the DC Area now till May on a job in Calvert County. I climb at EarthTreks since the weather sucks. There are many climbers within a 50 mile radius of DC here at RC.com, and I have climbed with a few already. Try replying to one of the many DC threads in this Forum, or send a PM to the authors of the threads/replies.

Hey Randi welcome to the site. You're more that welcome to join my friends and I for day trips or weekend excursions, when it gets a little warmer. We mainly go out to Seneca, Nelson, Franklin, or the New River in West Virginia for climbing and out to Coopers Rock, MD or Mt. Gretna, PA for bouldering. When we're not up for the long drives we'd locally go to Carderrock, Great Falls, Sugerloaf, and Annapolis Rocks. The gym that we mainly climb at is EarthTreks in Columbia, MD. PM if you want to go out climbing one of these days. P.S. Here's a link to another dc climbing group on yahoo that is pretty good for meeting up with climbers. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dcoutdoorrockclimbing/ Take Care. jon

Adam's trying to keep Old Rag a secret, but you can't hold a good area down. That and the ice climbing in PA... great year for the flows. Join the mailing list mentioned above, by the way. It really is a great way to keep a finger on the pulse of what a lot of people are doing. Adam and Pat Traynor are about the only people I climb with locally that aren't on it. (prolly cause Pat has a huge supply of partners, and Adam doesn't really climb, he just talks about it and then goes to the gym )

Maybe I should just give it to you. After I fly back from climbing in Jtree this weekend, it's yours.

As a teacher you should be able to make it to carderock in the evenings when it's nice in spring and fall.
