I live about 1:45min. from the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge.I was up there a few weeks ago. Hiking and climbing around on rocks @ boulders.Got bite by the BUG !! Would like to learn to do it right and safe!And about what would basic gear cost to get started. Can used gear be found to get started with. Any Help would be Great!! Thanks !! Goose

I go there all the time You can get used gear, but, be carefull what it is you buy used, esp. if you don't know the person you are buying it from. I'd never buy things like rope, used, you can't see inside it and you don't know how it was treated, it could have been shock loaded like hell and you'd never know it.

I've been looking for groups to climb with, but I'm in Dallas, and the groups of people I have met from Dallas have been... well I'll be nice, I'd rather not go climbing with them (I'm a transplant). I'm sure there are plenty of good people in Dallas to climb with, but I don't care for the organized groups I've seen so far.

dude, fixer... if you want to head up to the 'tas or Erock with another non-texan transplant, let me know. I get to the wichitas on a semi-frequent basis.

dude, just read your info, haha, the section about laughing for coming to this hell hole. it is man! summer heat is deadly, been in the hospital for it, pumped two bags of fluid in me before I came around... my blood is too thick for this flat land frying pan

no kidding yall, i spend 24 years in michigan, now three down here, in a couple months i'm moving back up to chicago. i miss SNOW!!! well, time to finish loading up the car! of to OK we go!!
